Pedagogy Day 2026 - Equity in AI

Pedagogy Day 2026 - Equity in AI

Welcome to Pedagogy Day 2026 at Eastern Illinois University, a one-day conference dedicated to cultivating a space where faculty and instructors can explore, share, and engage with proven effective teaching and learning practices at various educational levels. This annual event brings together colleagues from a range of different disciplines to reflect on our craft, exchange ideas, and strengthen our collective commitment to student learning.

The theme for Pedagogy Day 2026 isEquity in AI.” As AI tools become deeply embedded in academic, professional, and everyday life, educators are increasingly called to help students navigate this landscape with confidence, integrity, and critical awareness. This theme invites us to consider how we can understand and use these technologies more thoughtfully, communicate their strengths and limitations, and design learning experiences that prepare students equitably for a rapidly evolving future.

We are pleased to welcome, Dr. Kevin Hallinan, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Dayton, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Hallinan has been a leading voice on the role of AI in engineering education and on developing instructional approaches that foster ethical, equitable, and responsible technology use.
